Pocket money children can see
Rumpus is a family app for pocket money. Children watch their Spend, Save and Give jars fill up on a tablet on the wall, and parents pay allowances, record what was bought and help them save towards their goals.
What Rumpus does
Spend, Save and Give jars
Each child has jars for spending, saving and giving, plus a Presents jar for birthday gifts. Balances come from every payment, never typed in.
Allowances that split themselves
Parents set each child's allowance, weekly or monthly, and how it is split between the jars. Pay-day happens at the family meeting or automatically.
Goals and giving
Children save towards something they want, and choose causes to give to, with their progress on the wall for the whole family to see.
Real notes and coins
Money is shown as South African rand notes and coins, so children see what their savings are made of, and can watch them move.
A picture PIN for each child
Anyone can look at the jars. Moving money takes the child's own picture PIN, and parents approve what needs approving.
A record you can trust
Every payment is recorded once and never deleted. Mistakes are corrected openly, so the history always adds up.
Your family's information stays yours
Rumpus keeps your family's records in a Google Sheet in a parent's own Google Drive, which you own and can open at any time.
Parents sign in with their Google account. When a parent sets up a family, Rumpus asks
for access to Google Drive with the drive.file permission,
and uses it only to create the family's spreadsheet and share it with the other parent.
Rumpus can only see files it created or that you open with it, never the rest of your
Drive. Children don't need an account or an email address.

Rumpus is being built now, starting with one family.
